This Privacy Policy explains what information Car Deals Alert ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using cardealsalert.com, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account: email address and password hash when you register.
  • Alert preferences: saved searches (zip, make, deal type) and delivery frequency.
  • OAuth sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your Google email address and basic profile identifier. We do not receive your Google password.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages viewed, filters applied, and deals clicked. Used to tune the deal feed and detect abuse.
  • Device data: IP address, browser user-agent, and referrer — kept in request logs for up to 90 days.
  • Cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not set third-party tracking cookies ourselves; see the "Third parties" section below for services that may set their own.

2. How we use information

  • To operate the site, authenticate you, and send the alert emails you requested.
  • To improve the deal extraction and surface more relevant results.
  • To respond to your support or takedown requests.
  • To protect the service from abuse (rate-limiting, blocking scrapers, etc.).

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services that may process data about your visit:

  • Cloudflare — DDoS protection and CDN; receives your IP and request metadata.
  • Google AdSense (once approved) — may display ads and use cookies for ad personalization. See Google's Ads policy.
  • Google Sign-In — used only when you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Email delivery — transactional email (alerts, verification) is sent through a third-party SMTP provider.

4. Your choices

  • Unsubscribe: every alert email includes an unsubscribe link; you can also disable individual alerts from your profile.
  • Delete your account: email [email protected] and we will delete your account and associated data within 30 days.
  • Ad personalization: you can opt out of Google's personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads.

5. Data retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Request logs are kept for up to 90 days. Deleted-account data is purged within 30 days of the deletion request except where we are required to retain it for legal or security reasons.

6. Security

We use TLS in transit, hashed passwords, and server-side access controls. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and report any suspected compromise to [email protected].

7. Children

Car Deals Alert is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be noted at the top of the page along with a new "Last updated" date.
